Project Summary
Originally constructed in 1965, Larsen Hall is an eight story brick building centrally located on the Harvard Graduate School of Education campus. The building contains seven floors of classrooms, plus faculty and staff offices. Renovation of second floor classrooms 210 and 212 began in August 2007, with construction complete by the end of September 2007. A second phase of renovations, classrooms 402, 513 and 615, was completed in August 2008. The renovations provided the opportunity to upgrade the finishes, furniture, lighting and technological capabilities of each classroom to bring them up to HGSE current standards. Restrooms on each floor were also retrofitted with low-flow fixtures to reduce water consumption. The project team was committed to sustainability from the onset and throughout the duration of the project, and is pursing LEED-CI certification.
