Yujie (Catherine) Cai

Yujie (Catherine) Cai is a Master in Design Studies student in the Ecologies domain at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Trained as an architect in London, she is interested in how cities can adapt to environmental risks and what it takes to put sustainable ideas into practice. Her research with a coastal Massachusetts community used spatial and property data to assess flood exposure and support waterfront management. Her experience in urban development and investment analysis has also shaped her interest in the decisions and resources behind sustainable projects. Through the Council of Student Sustainability Leaders, Catherine hopes to work with students across Harvard’s schools to identify opportunities on campus and turn research and ideas into practical recommendations for its buildings and operations.
