Student Sustainability Associate (SSA) Program

Section E, MBA 2024

Background

I’m originally from China and studied in the U.S., Hong Kong, and Italy in the World Bachelors in Business (WBB) program. Before HBS, I was a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), when I worked with clients around the world on topics including Climate & Sustainability. For example, I proposed a “Paris Agreement” for recycling the Earth’s resources together with World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), a report that has been published to serve as a starting point for global communities to develop a plan for materials use in the next decades. I was also a core member of CO2 AI, BCG’s AI-enabled sustainability solution for carbon emissions measurement and reduction. Separately, I also completed a fellowship at the United Nations Global Compact when I led a project on Financial Inclusion.

My vision for a sustainable future

The world can and should do much more to allocate its current resources more equally to different communities and to preserve resources for future generations. I believe in the power of businesses and investments to enable sustainability and improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged communities on a global scale. With better access to capital, such communities can better thrive from social innovation and strengthened infrastructure, which could result in sustainable economic improvement as well as stellar returns for impact investors.

Favorite Green Tip

When one uses laundry machines, the “Eco Wash” option with shorter cycles can save water and energy. Opting for a lower temperature when washing can also save energy used for heating water.
