I grew up in Delhi, India and saw firsthand the impact of air pollution on quality of living. After moving to the US and getting my Bachelor’s in Economics, I started working in Investment Banking. One of the major trends I saw within the IB was the increasing focus on bringing an assessment of climate risk/impact into the capital markets and the push for the creation of a voluntary carbon market. After I left, I worked in strategy for Uber Freight, where we were building the largest digital freight brokerage in the US. Trucking is a major source of the ~29% of emissions contributed by the transportation sector; efficiency, electrification and autonomy were major focus areas for my team.

My vision for a sustainable future: I believe we have a lot of work ahead of us to get to a sustainable and biodiverse future. To me, this looks like local economies where agriculture, supply chains and waste systems are aligned so that communities can sustain themselves. I believe this global issue can’t be solved by technology alone, and we will need serious coordination between governments and businesses to succeed.

Favorite Green Tip: Use cold water for laundry; it cleans just as well and saves energy. Also, unplug your phone and laptop chargers when not in use because they still draw power.
