I am a first generation Muslim Canadian with parents from East Africa, and South Asian (pre-partition) ancestry. I grew up in Treaty 7 territory, in the Rocky Mountains, but have lived in Tajikistan, India, Afghanistan, the Netherlands, Tanzania, and the United States of America. Having witnessed and experience the fundamental role that electrification plays as the infrastructure of infrastructure, I am passionate about bolstering access to electricity. I am an aspiring clean tech and infrastructure investor, committed to strengthening the role that private sector players can play in emerging and frontier markets for positive and sustainable economic development, particularly in areas of renewable energy infrastructure and sustainable technologies.
My vision for a sustainable future: In my vision of a sustainable future, climate action is intersectional—addressing the root causes of inequity that intersect with environmental degradation. Climate justice must also address racial, gender, and economic disparities, recognizing that sustainability is not just about environmental protection but about creating systems where everyone, regardless of their background, can thrive in a clean, safe, and equitable world.
Favorite Green Tip: Swap and share clothes and books with friends – host a party and make it a game, refresh your wardrobe and library, all while building your own circular economy!
