Elizabeth Djajalie

Council of Student Sustainability Leaders

Elizabeth Djajalie is a first-year student at Harvard College who is committed to driving sustainability through innovation, policy, and education. Born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, Elizabeth grew up with an inherent drive to protect ecosystems and conducted original research on using environmental DNA metabarcoding for biodiversity conservation. She also wrote, filmed, animated, and produced an original short film on her research topic and its implications for species conservation. The film recently placed in the top 30 in the international Khan Academy Breakthrough Junior Challenge. Believing that lasting change calls for a collective effort, Elizabeth founded the Student Spokespersons Board for the Alaska Science and Engineering Fair nonprofit while also serving on her district’s Board of Education. She also launched, hosted, and produced the Future Women of STEM Podcast, which has reached listeners in over 10 countries spanning 5 continents via Spotify. Elizabeth is a Diana Award recipient, Coca-Cola Scholar, United States Senate Youth Delegate, Regeneron Science Talent Search Top 300 Scholar, and National Honor Society Scholarship Pillar Awardee. She looks forward to working with CSSL to advance sustainability goals on Harvard’s campus and beyond.
