Smith Campus Center Glass BoxThis past summer Common Spaces, Harvard Real Estate and the Office for Sustainability welcomed honeybees to the Smith Campus Center 10th floor, and we're excited to share this project and learning experience with our Harvard community. Join us for this very hands-on honey extraction workshop.
Meet Your Bees Workshop
Experience a day in the life of a beekeeper by opening and inspeting our buzzing Smith Campus Center hive! You'll be invited to:
Touch, smell and taste the hive's different products
See worker bees doing what they do best (working!)
Possibly meet the one and only, her Majest the Queen Bee
Brought to you by Harvard Common Spaces, the Office for Sustainability and Harvard Real Estate, this event will take place in Smith Campus Center Glass Box, on the 10th floor of the building. Just use your Harvard ID to reach the 10th floor with the elevators.

Discover the vital role bees play in our ecosystem, their complex behaviors, and the journey from hive to honey jar. Led by a beekeeping expert from Alvéole, workshop highlights will include:
-The science of bees and their critical role in global pollination and biodiversity
-Beekeeping 101 to gain insights into the art and science of urban beekeeping techniques and sustainable practices
-Honey production process overview to understand how bees create honey and the methods involved in harvesting and processing honey
-Interactive elements including a viewing of the active apiaries on the 10th floor of Harvard’s Smith Campus Center
Expand your knowledge, engage in meaningful discussions, and enjoy a sweet afternoon learning about bees!
