Facilities Systems and Sustainability Manager

Ryan is the Facilities Systems and Sustainability Manager for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), where he drives energy efficiency and decarbonization initiatives in support of the University’s ambitious Sustainability Action Plan. Ryan joined the Harvard Office for Sustainability (OFS) in April 2025, after three years as the Energy Manager at Harvard Law School (HLS) where he developed HLS’s Decarbonization Roadmap.

Prior to Harvard, Ryan worked as an energy efficiency consultant in the utility energy programs space, focusing on measurement and verification and energy analysis of custom energy projects. He led Impact evaluation studies of incentive programs in Massachusetts, New York, Maine, and elsewhere, across residential, multifamily, commercial and industrial sectors. Ryan helped support the development of energy modeling tools for multifamily gas savings analyses, net zero energy single-family residences, controlled-environment agriculture, air-source heat pumps in commercial spaces, and many custom energy applications.

Ryan has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, is a registered Professional Engineer, and a Certified Energy Manager. When not at work, he is either in the mountains with his dog, or wishing that he was.
