Jessica Fixsen
Harvard Business School
Sustainability Manager
As the Sustainability Manager at Harvard Business School, Jessica works with the community to drive the creation and implementation of sustainability initiatives and programs at HBS. She manages the Student Sustainability Associate Program and organizes community events, such as the annual Green Team clothing swap and educational programming around the HBS beehives (The HBeeS).
Before joining the OFS team, Jessica provided environmental audits and advice to restaurants, university dining halls, caterers, and food trucks across the country as a sustainability consultant with the Green Restaurant Association. In addition to helping her clients save water and energy while reducing their pollution, Jessica also performed research that was used to update and develop new restaurant certification standards spanning disposables, waste, chemicals, water, and building materials.
Throughout her career, Jessica has had the privilege of supporting multiple departments within Harvard. She has previously served as Student Services Liaison at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and in both the Enrollment Services and Admissions Offices at the Division of Continuing Education. In each position, she facilitated collaboration, explained complex topics, and empowered the members of her community to make the most of their experiences at the University.
Jessica has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Brandeis University and earned both a master’s degree in Sustainability and a graduate certificate in Corporate Sustainability and Innovation from Harvard Extension School. For her capstone project, she authored the Zero Waste Convocation Sustainability Action Plan for the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and helped to implement it alongside the Offices for Sustainability and Student Affairs. When she’s not discussing the merits of her favorite reusable swaps, you can find her enjoying delicious meals with her husband and/or watching rom-coms with her cat Georgia.
