Sustainability Case Study: Gutman Library 2nd floor Interior Project
The Gutman Library 2nd floor interior project is a 19,000 square foot renovation to support the goals of Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) to build community, meet student needs and position the school for the future. The intent was to create an ideal environment to advance the vision of the school for the future of learning and flexible work environments by bringing key student and library support services together in one space. The program includes open office space, lounge and exhibit space, meeting rooms, visualization lab, reading areas and book stacks. The project’s sustainability goals included enhanced energy performance with improved ventilation and lighting system upgrades, reduced water consumption, and better occupant experience with access to daylight, views, and healthier materials.
