HBS Climate Symposium 2023

The Climate Symposium is one of the largest student-run conferences on campus, and we intend to make this 2023 Symposium the most extensive, most interactive, and most international Symposium yet.

The theme for the 2023 Climate Symposium is "Adopting Climate Solutions at Scale." We will explore not only the existing climate solutions but also the crucial aspects of capital and policy deployment required to accelerate their implementation on a global scale.

The Salata Institute’s Climate Research Workshops bring Harvard University faculty together to present and discuss recent climate-related research papers and scholarly publications. Faculty will learn about current research taking place across Harvard, engage in interdisciplinary dialogues, and forge connections and research collaborations. The Fall 2023 Workshops will primarily focus on methane emissions and mitigation, led by the Salata Institute’s Climate Research Cluster on Reducing Global Methane Emissions.

Climate and Interdisciplinary Health at Harvard, Part 2: A Focus on Translation of Research into Policy

Please register to join us on March 7th from 5:30-8pm for an interdisciplinary climate & health networking session and dinner. The event is the second in a three-part series sponsored by the Salata Institute. Each has a specific focus for guided discussion, and the topic for this event is Translation of Research into Policy. We have a panel of three incredible speakers lined up, who will share their insights on this topic from the vantages of academia, nonprofit organizations, government, and industry. The 45-minute panel discussion will be followed by a dinner and networking session for all attendees. The panel will have a virtual option for those who cannot attend the event in person.

Harvard Climate Action Week | 2024

Harvard Climate Action Week invites climate experts, leaders, and stakeholders to come together and explore solutions to the most complex and challenging dimensions of the climate crisis. Events, in-person and online, dive deep into the policies, private actions, and leadership needed to drive further reductions in U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. This week of events is hosted by the Climate Action Accelerator at the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability at Harvard University.

International Workshop on Climate-Resilient Development in Southeast Asia

Through a series of talks and poster presentations, the workshop aims to promote research exchange of scholars from multiple disciplines and of diverse regional expertise on the status and dynamics of climate resilience studies, as well as to generate policy-relevant knowledge regarding climate resilient development pathways in Southeast Asian countries.

Join the Salata Institute for an informal discussion with Harvard experts on Hurricane Milton. Dan Schrag, Sturgis Hooper Professor of Geology and Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering, will address the impacts of climate change on hurricanes, generally, and what we can know about the role warming oceans may have played in intensifying Hurricane Milton. Satchit Balsari, Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Co-Director of CrisisReady, will speak to the impacts of the storm on human health and displacement and what can be expected as the recovery progresses.

Harvard Climate Connect: Community-Driven Solutions to Heat-Based Inequity
