Workshop: From Hive to Honey Jar

September 24 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Honeybee hives on top of Smith Campus Center on a clear blue-sky day.

Participate in an artisanal honey extraction at our buzzing Smith Campus Center hive! The event will take place Tuesday, September 24, 3-4 pm on the 10th floor of the Smith Campus Center.

Time to reap the fruits of our labor with this very hands-on honey extraction workshop. Our beekeeper will assist you over the course of this fun-filled hour as you:

  • Uncap honeycomb cells
  • Hand-spin honeycombs in the centrifugal extractor, and
  • Filter the raw honey before jarring and labeling it all
  • Walk away with an unforgettable experience and your very own honey jar!

Brought to you by Harvard Common Spaces, the Harvard Office for Sustainability and Harvard Real Estate.

We will provide refreshments! You can help us make this event less wasteful:

  • Bring your own reusable bottle or mug
  • Compost your leftovers, plate and napkins
  • Ask the event staff if you’re not sure how to dispose of something

Attendance is limited to the first 50 registrants and to the Harvard community. Please use your Harvard email to register starting Monday, August 26. Please cancel your registration if you are no longer able to attend so we can offer your spot up to someone else.
