Ella Niederhelman

Ella Niederhelman is a junior in Kirkland House studying Environmental Science & Public Policy and Science & Society. She is passionate about environmental law and regulation, clean energy policy, and science writing.
Ella is originally from Ipswich, Massachusetts, where she spent years reporting on key narratives of the climate crisis. She has a background in journalism, climate and health research, and clean energy policy. She has written hundreds of articles for the Ipswich Local News, and has worked for the Center for Climate, Health, & the Global Environmental at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (C-CHANGE) to coordinate summits and communication strategy. Ella has also conducted research for Harvard Business School’s Business & Environment Initiative, and Harvard’s Climate Sociology Lab. She has taught students and developed interdisciplinary climate programming for the Salata Institute for Climate & Sustainability, and looks forward to continuing University engagement with her position on the CSSL.
Beyond climate, Ella reports for The Harvard Crimson, is a director of the Harvard Undergraduate Clean Energy Group, and chair of Kirkland House. She is a student researcher for the Climate Sociology Lab, science writer for the Earth & Planetary Sciences department, and peer concentration advisor for ESPP. Ella is a Cameron Impact Scholar with the Bryan Cameron Education Foundation.
