Arman Lateef

Council of Student Sustainability Leaders

College

Arman Lateef is a Junior at Harvard College, concentrating in the History of Science with a secondary in Neuroscience and a focus on Medicine and Public Health. His passion for environmental health began in high school, when he founded Healthy Environments Advance Life (HEAL). HEAL’s mission is to engage and educate young students on how the environment affects human health, while its vision is to promote healthier communities through both local and global action. Under his leadership, the organization has carried out projects ranging from developing a problem-based learning curriculum on recycling programs to organizing community-driven projects supporting Afghan refugee health and wellness.  Among other projects, HEAL led the first outdoor recycling program in a 90,000-student district, built environmental-health curricula for Title I schools, and executed international clean-water and hygiene initiatives.

Arman’s prior research has included using NASA satellite data to map out particulate pollution and link it with biologic outcomes in vulnerable populations. Currently, he is working with scientists at the NIH’s Climate Change Initiative, further deepening his commitment to addressing environmental challenges through scientific inquiry.

At Harvard, Arman’s focus on Medicine and Public Health allows him to explore the historical and social contexts of medical practices and public health initiatives, particularly as they relate to environmental factors. He is also actively involved with The Crimson Business Board and the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, where he is expanding his understanding of business principles and their applications in creating sustainable, impactful solutions.
