Nina Rutledge

Council of Student Sustainability Leaders

College

Nina Rutledge is a Freshman at Harvard College with an intention to concentrate in Environmental Science and Public Policy and Economics. Growing up outdoors, Nina’s intellectual curiosities were centered around environmental sciences. Upon further exploration, she has developed a passion for energy transitions and broader climate focused solutions that can be implemented in an equitable manner.

In her hometown, Nina served on the Athens Clarke County Mayor’s Youth Council and was appointed to be the youth advisor for the Future Land Use Committee, where she lobbied and advocated for sustainable development. At her high school, she coordinated and implemented a composting program; today, it is entirely student run and contains the fundraising and infrastructure to endure for ten years to come. She also worked for the Beyond Terra nonprofit and extended their educational and climate technologies to five high schools across California. Nina has presented research on PFAs contamination, bioremediation potential, and the viability of nuclear energy at conferences and symposiums.

In her time, Nina strives to aid in mitigating existing climate threats and to push towards an equitable, sustainable world.
