Drop off your donations now through Tuesday\, August 22 in the collection bin in the Gutman 1st floor lobby\, or directly at the Freecycle.  A donation is not required to shop the Freecycle.  Any items leftover will be donated to the Harvard Recycling and Surplus Center in Allston\, which you can shop (for free!) every Monday and Thursday from 10 am – 1 pm.

SUMMARY:Climate Policy in Action: A Conversation with Nat Keohane
DESCRIPTION:In 2020\, Joe Biden ran for president on the most ambitious climate action platform of any major presidential candidate in U.S. history. Since taking office\, Biden’s administration has delivered several significant climate victories\, including passing the Inflation Reduction Act and the bipartisan infrastructure bill. Despite these advances\, further efforts will be required to meet the United States’ ambitious climate commitments: a 50 percent reduction in emissions below 2005 levels by 2030\, 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2035\, and net-zero emissions economy-wide by 2050. \nJoin a conversation with Nat Keohane (PhD 2001)\, President of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) and former Special Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate under President Barack Obama. Keohane will discuss the opportunities and challenges of building on recent progress in U.S. climate policy\, as well as the actions that must be taken in the United States and globally to get on track for net zero by mid-century. Professor Henry Lee\, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Belfer Center’s Environment and Natural Resources Program\, will moderate the conversation. \nThis event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are required for in-person attendance. Non-Harvard University ID holders must check in at the Wexner security desk upon arrival. DESCRIPTION:The Center for International Development‘s “Road to GEM23” climate and development series precedes and helps launch the May 2023 Global Empowerment Meeting (GEM23)​\, “Growing in a Green World”. This spring\, CID strives to elevate and learn from voices from the countries on the frontlines of the climate crisis\, and feature important learnings from the leaders who will be active participants at GEM23. On Friday\, April 14 at 12-1pm ET\, CID presents Isabel Saint Malo\, Senior Policy Adviser to the Administrator of the United Nations Development Program\, Former Vice President of Panama. \nFocused on developing standards that can provide a common language for sustainability information\, to enable comparable and consistent sustainability disclosures across global capital markets\, the IFRS is working on global sustainability standards and set up the ISSB for such purpose. The ISSB is working with jurisdictions around the world\, as well as market participants\, to deliver this. \nIFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards will provide the foundations for globally applicable disclosure requirements\, thereby establishing a consistent and comprehensive global baseline.
